Use the custodian that matches the Franklin County record:

- Criminal records and rap sheets: contact the Idaho State Police (ISP), Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI)
- Arrest, booking, and jail records: contact the Franklin County sheriff's records unit
- Official background checks: order through the Idaho State Police (ISP), Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI)

The office does not publish separate records-counter hours, so call before visiting. For filed case records, contact the District and Magistrate Court clerk at the same address, 208-852-0877, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Preston Police records remain with Preston Police rather than the sheriff.
