An arrest shows that custody or a legal accusation occurred. It does not establish guilt. Likewise, a dismissal does not by itself erase every agency or BCI record tied to the event.

Restricted, Sealed & Expunged Records
Idaho uses three distinct remedies. BCI expungement under §67-3004(10) can remove qualifying fingerprint and history data after no indictment or information within one year, an acquittal of all incident offenses, or dismissal of all charges. The applicant sends BCI the required event documents and certified outcome. BCI says to allow 30 days.
Clean Slate shielding under §67-3004(11) is filed in the original Franklin County case. It can shield an eligible record from ordinary public disclosure after at least five years from completion of the entire sentence, including supervision, fines, and restitution. It does not destroy the case. A set aside under §19-2604 is discretionary relief in the sentencing court and is not automatic deletion of a police report, booking record, or BCI cycle.

Official 2024 Crime in Idaho data gives context, not a list of convictions. Preston Police reported 132 Group A offenses, 27 cleared offenses, and 62 arrests. The Franklin County Sheriff's reporting jurisdiction recorded 87 Group A offenses, 22 cleared, and 51 adult arrests. These agency totals describe reported activity within each reporting base.
An offense count, a cleared case, an arrest, and a conviction are not interchangeable. Sheriff totals also cannot be assigned to Franklin City or Weston because those places have no separate series in the inspected report.
